Skálabotnur Triptych
Sea Shepherd estimates that the cull of an entire superpod of Atlantic White-Sided Dolphin—1428 individual animals—that occurred Sunday September 12, 2021 at Skálabotnur (Skálafjørður) in the Faroe Islands may represent the largest single hunt of cetaceans ever recorded worldwide. Reports of the event describe a disturbing lack of respect for the dolphins and the manner of their death.
Skálabotnur Triptych is an iteration of the Gravity Engine art project to mark the tragedy and to provide a visual placeholder for the loss of meaning incurred in any attempt to process this inter-species genocide and vandalism of natural wealth.
